Review:

We killed this show. Which, I'll admit, was a little risky, seeing as how there were Governor's involved with our show. Oddly enough, those Governor's will always be remembered for the song about their lead singers mother...which was curiously triumphant.

We did end up headlining this show, though we thought we were playing second. Apparently Ass Backwards' bass player, or guitar player, or drummer...someone in their band...had a pilots test in the morning. And, apparently Ryan's brother's wife was in labor. So, it was the battle of poor excuses to play second. I stayed out of it, and kept drinking, which made me oblivious to the entire ordeal...but apparently, in light of recent developments in the space-time continueum, non-existant babies are not as important as airplanes...which sounds about right.

But our true fans stuck it out. And by true fans, I mean people who came out earlier, expecting to see us play, and then had to wait around for an hour and a half. By all accounts, however, we played an awesome set. We had about a dozen people standing at the front of the stage (including the Groove Governor who's mother was discussed above), dancing and cheering...and pretend moshing. We even rearranged the setlist without ever communicating verbally (to keep the vibe up), which means we've been a band for a damn long time.

Note: "Smile" is quickly gaining in popularity. It was well received at this show and was asked about, by name, by a fan who has only seen us once, if it was going to be on the new CD. The answer to that question is no...it will only be on the NEW COMPACT DISC!

Review:

Though you wouldn't know it by looking at us, we're a better band because of this show. You see, this was great experience for when we decide to hit the road and go on tour to cities other then Storm Lake, where we don't already have a fan base, because the size of the crowd at this show somewhat resembled the size of a middle school cross country team. Sure, no one was wearing those ridiculously short shorts (except Ryan and Justin during Tenacious D...which was slightly awkward), but we had to say to ourselves, "Hey, the eight people that are here deserve to see a damn good show, and we're going to give it to them."

And we did. Though we weren't exactly worried about screwing up (as one would have noticed during Beverly Hills when we got to the quiet part and all of us just looked at eachother to see if the others knew what was going on...then Ryan starts singing "Truth is...we don't know this song,"...f-in hilarious), we did rock all the songs, had a good time, took requests, told hilarious stories inbetween songs (one of which involved Connealy getting hit by a car...which was true, by the way), and even offered to by all of the people at the bar who stayed for our show a round of drinks after the first song. Unfortunately, when we went to pay the tab at the end of the night, the bartender said no one actually came and got a drink. But we look like heroes anyways!
