Review:

Well, there's so much to talk about and only this fifth dimension of the internet to fit it all into. First off, a room filled with 30-40 people is usually a grand old time...but, when the room has 600 chairs set up and the house lights on throughout the duration of all the bands performances, it makes for a bit of an awkward night. Now don't get me wrong, we had a blast playing and would do it again for the great old UN of O, but sometimes the interesting shows are the ones you remember for all the wrong reasons.

Lets talk about the things that happened on stage. Once Third Frate got done rockin', we started setting up, and quickly knew things would be...well...different. There was no house music being played while we were setting up, so there's plenty of uncomfortable conversation between us...that the entire room could hear. Then, Connealy was using a bass amp that was provided by the organization that he had no idea how to use. In the midst of trying to figure out how to use the amp, his bass guitar fell over, crashing so loudly that it was almost like someone dropped their trey of food in the cafeteria. Someone really should've started a slow clap. Oh, and how could I forget...I had to setup my own drum mics. This wasn't the worst thing in the world since the "sound guy" made Third Frate's kick drum sound like a battle drum from Sparta that would have shaken the pillars of Mount Olympus with it's volume. Really the whole sound check consisted of us going, "Are we good?" to the sound guy and him shrugging, and saying, "Yeah, I think so."

The set was equally as impressive on the awkward-o-meter. We rocked the Indecision, and I think that was probably the most shocking lyrics that the judges had heard that night (so that makes us the most hardcore UNO battlers...which isn't saying much since one of the bands hardly had any lyrics at all). And, by far, my favorite moment of the evening was when Ryan forgot that we don't go to the chorus right away at the beginning of Don't, and went to the chorus for a second, then apologized and said, "Sorry, this is the first time we've played this song." Sarcasm at its finest, but we ended up getting docked point in the scoring because we shouldn't have "told the audience that was our first time playing the song." Guess the judges didn't get it.

We ended up getting 3rd place, and our boys from Third Frate ended up getting first. But hey, at least the judges weren't persuaded by names...then we would've got 10th...out of 6.
