Review:

So this was a weird one. Don't get me wrong, I mean we love playing Sokol Underground...just not usually when there's still light coming in from the window. Turns out we ended up with the second timeslot, playing at 4:45 in the pm, which wasn't all bad because we weren't planning on winning anyways. Of course we played to win, but the winner was determined by a Nickelodeon "Applause-O-Meter," and we didn't want to ask the 6 people that showed up to see us, to stick around and try and out cheer 100 Echobliss fans, or 47 "other band's fans"...so we just took off. Big thanks to the people who did come out to see us. We appreciate the support immensly, and yourunbridled enthusiasm maybe helped convert a couple people to Scholars fans.

Hey, since I'm wondering out loud...I wonder who won...or how the pirate band did?

Review:

Always fun when you play a show with a band who's named after your hit song. Then there's The Brothers...I mean what can you say, they were a middle-sandwich and rocked it like J.C. did in the new millenium. Our set was pretty good. Thanks to everybody who stuck around. Actually it was probably worth the $5 to see Ryan get tangled in his guitar cable, nearly fall over and kill himself, and watch Paul watch Ryan do all that and forget what chords he was playing. Made for a good "Please Baby Please." Oh, and we also did a brief cover of The Brothers cover of the Plain White T's "Hey There Dalihla,"...marking the only time in Knickerbockers history that there was a third generation cover played on their stage.

Review:

Ah, it was good to have the band back together...well, not so much the band, but the crew...that just doesn't sound as cool though. It'd been quite a long time since we played a show with both Third Frate and The 5150's on the bill. Kind of like a dream show in Northwest Omaha for the people that showed up...or for the bands, but whatever.

So in case you've never been backstage at the Glacier, this is one of the few venues in Omaha that actually has a backstage. And we utilized that last night. Now there's a room for the bands to hang out in backstage (which we aptly title the Sex room or the Texas Handjob room), and we used that room not for what you'd think, but to write a song. That's right, we wrote a song during the latter half of the 5150's set and played it during the set. It should be known, however, that Paul and I had gone over the song many times while the Omaha faction of our band was practicing...and we were actually going to play a different new song that we soundchecked with in Webster City, IA this past summer, but instead ended up playing "Nicolette." So backstage, in a room that was filled with about 60 restaraunt style wooden chairs for reasons that I don't entirely understand, we crammed the four of us into the room, Ryan and Justin learned the song, and then we played a stripped down version of that, with moderate success.

But that wasn't the best part of the night. The best part was introducing Jeremy on guest vocals for 1:52 and then having him come onstage from backstage. That's badass...except he was in the audience and then went back there right before we played the song...which is not badass.

Review:

Our first time as a full band at Scrumpy's went pretty well. We played outside. The weather was nice. The people were nice enough to come sit outside and eat and drink and listen to music. And, more importantly, people realized that with the weather changing, TOS hoodies are the only way to stay warm...either than or snuggling with Connealy...Ryan knows all about that...come on people, read the Northgate Music Festival review!

Big thanks to the 5 people that came out to see us. We were pretty sure we wouldn't have any people there, so 5 was like 500% better than we expected...but don't double check that math...
