Review:
Well, lets get down to it. This was a battle...a death match...a celebrity death match without the celebrities. On the line was a chance to open for Deep Blue Something (the "Breakfast at Tiffany's" guys). You know what that meant...no holding back...or just playing a normal set...you know, whatever. But as the other bands started playing and our people started showing up, we thought we had a good shot at the crown.
Then we played the set.
Lets just say that we know our old songs very well. Our new version of "I Say" and our new tune "Thank You"...well...lets just say we know our old songs very well. And that's tough to admit because the last practice we had we only worked on those two songs and one other one. Nevertheless, the crowd was into it, (and oddly into The Lord Of The Rings too...if you weren't there, you didn't miss anything except loud, awkward yelling) and despite what we're dubbing the "August-In-Miami-Like-Heat Onstage," we powered through the set.
So we finished playing, people left, we got $10 and still didn't know if we won or not. And then we waited. Low and behold, we got the call and found out we'd won the epic battle to open for Deep Blue Something, thus making our record 1 for 5 in battle of the bands competitions. And I'd have to say this was probably the best prize out of them all. Who knows, maybe we can start a streak.
