Review:

Well, when you're scheduled to play a rock show, you act like rockstars...so we did. We had a photo shoot outside of Sokol for two hours with all the bands from the Onken-Stein Records family. So, look for some killer photos, courtesy of Meri Valentin, in the coming weeks.

That was pretty much the extent of our acting like rockstars.

The show itself was good...nothing out of the ordinary...but we're working on that.

Review:

It was a night of comedy, bluegrass and our brand of rock...and few people were there to witness the extravaganza. People who weren't there missed out because it was a great night of music...well, until we got on stage. Matt Geiler of The Brothers was flying solo and displayed his new-found acoustic guitar skills. It was probably one of the best shows I've seen Geiler do...and I've seen him do a lot of shows. "Only 17 bars left...oh, shit..."

Big Smith hit the stage after The Brother and somehow crammed 6 people and 10 instruments on stage. They were absolutely great...super talented...nice people...had a washboard, fiddle and upright bass...wish 'em luck. If you ever get the chance to see them, please do. If you like bluegrass, or simply talented musicians, you won't be disappointed.

Then we played, or attempted to play. At this point we're just there to please the 10 people who are in the audience. We didn't make a setlist and just kind of shot from the hip...taking requests from people after they could figure out the names of the songs they wanted to hear. It worked pretty well...until we hit "Don't"...it didn't go extremely bad, but there were issues. Then I don't know what the hell happened on FHG...though it seems if we ever do practice we should probably have Ryan and Justin work on playing that song correctly and trying not to laugh. No worries though, remember there were only 10 people there. Then we tried something we'd never talked about doing before, let alone practiced. We pulled the old switcheroo and Connealy went back to the drums, Ryan grabbed the bass, I hit up the vocals and Paul tried to teach everyone the song while I was explaining that we were going to attempt to play PG-13's "Cry, Cry, Cry." (If you don't know who PG-13 is, please go directly to any Homer's music store and pick up the Onken-Stein Records disc "Pulling Focus"...it explains everything and you get a 3 song compilation CD.) And, much to our surprise, it went pretty well. I honestly didn't think Connealy still knew how to play the drums, but he assured me that he'd been playing Rock Band on X-Box quite regularly.

By this time we were out of time...so we convince our boy on sound to let us rock on more song and did a doubletime version of Take Me Back...the set ends 15 minutes after it was supposed to...score one for us.

Then we spent 40 minutes after the show hanging with Geiler and talking about erotic hypnotics, lebians and Connealy's girlfriend...how'd that work out for you, Connealy?
